I got this used, and at this point in my studies, it was not advanced enough for me - I should be using the intermediate piano series. However, if you like the Bastien style of teaching, with short snippets of theory, technique, and pieces in different keys, this book will work great. The spiral binding is definitely a plus in my book - much better than the plastic comb or traditional binding. If you know most of your major scales, triads, and can play simple pieces hands together, I recommend something a little more advanced - but that is not the book's fault, for what it is, I would recommend it to the beginner.
