Watercolors by Kandinsky at the Guggenheim Museum: A selection from the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum and the Hilla von Rebay Foundation Details
From Library Journal This short, insightful, and instructive introduction to a little-known aspect of Kandinsky's work is necessarily limited in scope, but it is helpful in understanding the artist's development. In her introductory essay, Hirschfeld provides an outline of Kandinsky's life, placing the watercolors in the context of his artistic development. In the main text, she includes some interesting photographs of paintings and drawings by the artist that help us understand that development. The volume is beautifully produced, with clear and sharp color plates that are fully described and identified. There is also a very helpful bibliography. Recommended for the educated lay reader and a welcome addition to the literature on Kandinsky.- Martin Chasin, Adult Inst., Bridgeport, Ct.Copyright 1992 Reed Business Information, Inc. Read more
